As Politico reported Thursday, several GOP lawmakers in the Sunshine State have been irked by DeSantis’s obsessive crusade against Disney, which he launched last year when then CEO Bob Chapek offered mild criticism of the governor’s “Don’t Say Gay” law”—which was recently expanded—in response to employee outcry. That crusade somehow continues to this day, even though Chapek is no longer CEO. “People are deeply frustrated,” former GOP State Senator Jeff Brandes told the outlet. So much so, it seems, that state Republicans are apparently considering ways to reclaim some of the authority they ceded to the governor. “They are not spending any time on the right problems,” Brandes said of DeSantis’ office. “Most legislators believe that the balance of power has shifted too far and the Legislature needs to re-establish itself as a coequal branch of government.”
