Property insurance hangs over Florida elections, but solutions slim

Many Floridians are heading to the polls with property insurance at the forefront of their concerns due to skyrocketing rates and the impact of Hurricane Debby. However, legislative candidates have only vague plans to address these issues. Former state Senator Jeff Brandes, a strong advocate for insurance reform, criticized the lack of vision in the Florida Legislature. Brandes, now leading the Florida Policy Project, emphasized the need for concrete plans to tackle Florida’s high insurance rates, which are the highest in the nation.
